Early Voting- Voting earlier than everyone else because a person will be out of their jurisdiction voting time. Allowing early voting gives everyone a chance to give their opinion. It also gives a more accurate result when the election is through and the winner is chosen.
Over half of the votes that are casts in elections are automated today. Some of the negative things that go along with automated voting are hacking, jammed phone lines, fraudulent vote counts, and violations of voting secrecy. Online voting is really popular, but it is not considered to be fair because it does not give everyone an equal opportunity to vote. The machines that are used for electronic voting are called DRE's and can be easily hacked. No one wants to completely depend on something so important.
Federal: Congress expanded the body of federal election law with the passage of the Help America Vote Act of 2002. That law came in response to the many ballot and voter registration problems that plagued several states in the presidential election in 2000. Now in 2013, the Supreme Court struck down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act, the provision of the landmark civil rights law that designates which parts of the country must have changes to their voting laws cleared by the federal government or in the fereral court. State: Must replace all their lever operated and punch card voting devices. They had to upgrade their administration of elections, the administration had to get special training. All states must centralize and computerize their voter registration . The state must provide for provisional voting, so a person whose eligibility to vote has been challenged.
